    The tornado.

    На уроке прошли:

    • Проверка домашнего задания:
      • Team 1, Team 2 — WB p.19 Ex.1 — письменно в WB
      • Team 1: написать письменно вопросы в тетрадь:
        • / on their houses / what / people / see / yesterday / ?
        • / from the streets / clean / who /  the ash  / ?
        • / to school / pupils / go / ?
    • Open your excercise books and write as many disasters as you can
      • Check in pairs and count
      • New disasters on the board: tornado, mudslide, tsunami
    • New words, need them for listening and presentation, read all together:
      • vebs: to destroy, to kill, to go round and round, to break windows, to die
      • nouns: electric wires, strong wind, the USA, a typical tornado, very powerfull tornado, a loud noise, broken electric wires, fires, Joplin
    • Open SB p. 20 Ex.1, look at the pictures, what are there?
    • Listen to CD 1 25, put pictures in order
    • Listen again CD 1 26, answer the questions Ex.2
    • Three disasters: a mudslide (earthslide), a tsunami, an avalanche:




    • Prepare the presentation about some natural disaster (4-5 sentences):
      • work in pairs (including me)
      • one draws, the other speaks
      • Write down the key words into the exercise books. The plan is:
        • – the name of my disaster:  a tsunami, an avalache, a mudslide
          – how it works
          – interesting facts
        • materials (read two times):
          • a tsunami:
            • how it works: it’s a big wave in the ocean after the earthquake
            • Interesting facts:
              •  They are often in the Pacific Ocean where there are lots of underwater earthquakes and volcanoes. In countries such as Japan and the United States
              •  In 2004 an earthquake in the Indian Ocean caused a devastating tsunami that killed over 230,000 people.
              • The speed of tsunami is more than 80 kilometers per hour. It’s very dangerous.
          • a mudslide:
            • how it works: mudslides occur after rainfall or snowmelt. They start on hills, and go down the hill. The flow begin from water to heavy mud that can take trees and cars.
            •  Interesting Facts:
              •  Mudslides kill from 25 to 50 people each year.
          • an avalanche:
            • how it works: big mass of ice and snow comes down of the mountain after heavy snowfall
            •  Interesting facts:
              • usually it happens during 24 hours after a snowstorm
              •  the speed of avalanche is more than 180 kilometers per hour
              •  kills more than 150 people every year
              •  If you are NOT found in two hours after avalanche, you will die, no chance to live.
