    Make your own volcano.

    Творческое задание - сделай вулкан своими руками


    На уроке сделали:

    • проверка домашнего задания:
      • WB p. 18 Ex. 1, Ex.2
      • Team 1: SB p.18 — чтение одного абзаца на время, без ошибок и перевод того же абзаца устно
      • Team 2: SB p.18 — чтение одного абзаца на время
      • Team 1:
        • В тетрадь написать вопросы (проверю!), ответить устно на вопросы:
          • Why / cola / explode / from the bottle ?
          • Gas / come out / fast / or slow / from / the bottle / when / you shake / the bottle ?
          • the temperature / of magma / What ?
          • What / we / see / in the sky / before / the eruption ?
          • (!!!) What / lava / become / when / it gets cold ?
      • Team 2:
        • В тетрадь написать ответы на вопросы:
          • What are bubbles in cola made of?
          • What forms of magma are inside Earth?
          • When do magma and gas come out through a hole?
          • When does magma become lava?
      • For candy:
    • The topic for the lesson today — Make your own volcano. Our Equipment and new words:
      • cardboard (a sheet of thick or thin cardboard)
      • scissors (a pair of scissors)
      • colored-pens (for decoration, for painting)
      • sticky tape (a roll of sticky tape)
      • bottle (that will be our volcano’s chamber and a crater, empty bottle, not too big)
      • spoons (tea-spoons)
      • detergent (liquid soap. Several drops for making foam or lava)
      • vinegar (we need some amount of vinegar)
      • baking soda (several spoons for eruption)
      • upsight down (put the bottle upside down)
      • to fold (fold the cardboard to fome a cone)
      • to pour (pour some vinegar into the bottle)
      • crumpled newspaper
      • the mouth of the bottle
      • the circle (cut out the circle)
      • to fill (to fill the cone with the crumpled newspaper)
    • We need one voluenteer — for collecting the equipment (team 2)
    • Fast reading Team 1: crater, lava, pressure, magma chamber, magma, liquid rock, ash clouds, to epurt, an eruption, a continent, ocean floor, a dormant volcano, an extinct volcano, an erupting volcano, (active volcano), a cone (cone-shaped), Earth, surface, for a long time, thousands of years
    • Fast reading Team 2: cola, to shake, to explode, gas, under the surface, temperature (degrees Celsius), chambers, cave, pressure, crater, ash clouds, lava, to develop
    • Open SB p. 19 Ex.1 — read silently and put pictures in order (5 mins)
    • SB Ex.1 — let’s make the volcano! And paint the volcano.
    • Now let’s color the volcano’s sketch — using electronic pen
    • SB Ex.2 — read the instructions
    • and answer the questions:
      • How much water should we pour into the bottle?
      • I that true that we need to add 3 tea spoons of detergent into the water? Or how much?
      • What do use the baking soda for? How much soda?
      • Do we need a lot of vinegar? For what?
    • Let’s make the volcano erupt!
